Empowering Future Optometrists in GP Fitting! “GP LENS SUCCESS” at SCCO on Oct 16th 2025

Visionary Contact Lens was thrilled to host a highly successful educational event for the bright optometry students at SCCO on October 16th! Our mission was to equip the next generation of eye care professionals with the confidence and practical knowledge needed to seamlessly integrate Gas Permeable (GP) lens fitting into their future careers. The event featured three insightful GP fitting case studies, offering diverse perspectives from top industry experts: Karen K. Yeung, OD, FAAO, Dipl AAO from the UCLA clinic, SCCO professor Erin Tomiyama, OD, PhD, FAAO, and private practice owner Dr. Alex Elson OD, FSLS. Each presenter shared their unique fitting approaches and strategies, providing the students with a comprehensive look at successful GP lens management in different clinical settings.

The learning continued with a lively and engaging panel discussion, where the student attendees had the opportunity to dive deeper and ask critical questions, particularly focusing on how to effectively get started with GP lens fitting. The panel included our industry case study experts, SCCO Contact Lens instructor Elain Chen, OD, FAAO, FSLS,  and our generous event sponsors: Kem Grizzaffi from Tangible Sciences, Dan Meinert from Acuity Polymers, and John Belliveau from Visionary Contact Lens. The enthusiasm and insightful questions from the SCCO students truly made the evening a huge success!
